TerraCycle and Rom&nd Launch the Color Cosmetics Recycling 'Green Chemistry Project'
Starting March 1st, Participate in Two Ways: Online or Offline through Seongsu-dong Pink Office and TerraCycle Platform
Global recycling innovation company TerraCycle has partnered with color cosmetics brand Rom&nd to start the 'Green Chemistry Project' since March 1st, aiming for resource circulation of previously hard-to-recycle color cosmetics empty bottles. This project originates from a deep mutual understanding of environmental issues between the two companies.
Why is Recycling Color Cosmetics Important?
Color cosmetics are important tools for expressing individual tastes and personalities, especially popular among younger generations. However, due to their small size and remaining contents, they are often difficult to convert into recyclable materials.
This characteristic leads many used color cosmetics bottles to end up as regular waste rather than being recycled, a troubling situation that has persisted. TerraCycle and Rom&nd initiated the Green Chemistry Project to tackle this problem and explore solutions for a sustainable future.

Participating in the 'Green Chemistry Project' is Not Difficult
The Green Chemistry Project is designed for easy consumer participation via both online and offline methods.
All Rom&nd and Neuz products are eligible for collection. The participation scope has widened to include not only empty products but also discolored or expired products that are no longer usable.
For offline participation, you can directly visit the Rom&nd Pink Office located in Seongsu-dong, Seoul to return your products.

Online participation involves a courier collection method via the TerraCycle platform, allowing consumers to conveniently engage in resource circulation activities from anywhere.
The Greater Value Created Through Resource Circulation
Collected color cosmetics bottles are processed into new resources through TerraCycle's unique recycling methods.
Recycled materials will be used for producing future recycling products or will be donated in various forms to the community.
TerraCycle Korea's Country Lead, Lee Yoojung, shares her expectations for this project.
Rom&nd, as a representative brand of K-beauty, has contributed a positive impact on the community through the Chemistry Project. This year, we are excited to join hands with TerraCycle to expand sustainable environmental activities under 'Green Chemistry.' We hope that the Green Chemistry Project will become a significant opportunity to circulate not only used cosmetics but also products kept in drawers due to uncertainty about disposal into valuable resources.
Closing the Project
This project, which tackles the difficult issue of recycling color cosmetics, is a meaningful attempt that showcases corporate responsibility towards environmental issues. With proactive consumer participation, discarded cosmetics bottles can gain new value and become a significant step toward a sustainable beauty industry.
